been here!, an experimental found footage film by Charles Lee, is a survey of the appearance of African American cowboy culture in historical and contemporary visual culture. This work fosters a more nuanced understanding of a U.S. cultural icon, the cowboy, and its often obfuscated origins. This film is a quilting of appropriated clips from feature films, home videos, music videos, and television shows that are sutured with the sinew of the soul of this nation.
